Wealth, success and fame are the tips of a triptych that makes people talk and makes people want. For this reason, every year, ranking and classifications stimulate readers, revealing the dizzying figures enjoyed by the protagonists of the shows. In the case of Italian actors, the analysis does not always confirm the intuition: the richest, in fact, are not necessarily the most famous. Moreover, with regards to possessions, it seems that very famous actors have nothing to envy to their American counterparts.

4° posto – Asia Argento

Asia Aria Maria Rossa Argento, born in Rome on 20 September 1975, became known first as a daughter of art, then as an actress and later as a director, a scècher, singer and television presenter, and lastly also as an activist. She made her debut in 1984, when just at the age of 9 she acted in the film Il ritorno di Guerriero. Up until now, Asia Argento has appeared in more than forty films, many more if we consider the roles in short films, television and video clips. The actress has won two David di Donatello for best actress: one for the film Perdiamoci di vista (1994) and the other for Compagna di viaggio (1997). In terms of Italian actors’ wealth, her stands at 12 million US dollars.

3° posto – Monica Bellucci

With a ranking of 45 million dollars, it is Monica Bellucci (official site) to conquer the third place on our list of rich Italian actors. After a career as a model, she began working as an actress in 1990 under the guidance of Dino Risi and in a few years she became very popular both in Italy and abroad, collaborating with directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Mel Gibson and Sam Mendes.

2° posto – Sofia Loren

Sofia Loren (official site) is not only the most famous Italian actress, she is also the richest. Her current assets in fact consist of 74 million US dollars. An icon of Italian cinema and successful actress, Loren won an Oscar for interpretation (La ciociara) and one for her career..

1° posto – Roberto Benigni

Apparently, in the case of Italian actors, wealth and international notoriety are strongly correlated. It is not surprising then that  Roberto Benigni is in the first place. After his first works, such as the films produced by Mario Cecchi Gori, the actor’s career has gone through hits like Johnny Stecchino and Il Mostro, to then reach his peak with La vita è bella, for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor and the Oscar for the best foreign film.

For his commitment in having promoted the Divine Comedy, the actor was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2007. Roberto Benigni far surpasses the wealth of his female colleagues, with a patrimony of 245 million US dollars. Perhaps when we talk about wealth, gender is also a variable to consider? We leave it to the researchers to find the answer to this thorny question. In fact, the Tuscan Oscar Winner still remains the richest showman in Italy.
