«The trendy tour of Shopping Maps proceeds… Today we are in Sardinia, discovering the secrets of shopping in Costa Smeralda»

After the trip to Portofino we stop in one of the most fascinating destinations in Sardinia, and in all of Italy. Shopping in Sardinia is becoming increasingly popular: every year it attracts visitors from all over the world and over the years it has become synonymous with luxury and exclusivity. We are talking about the Costa Smeralda, the ideal destination for a holiday full of glamor and refinement. In addition to the many beautiful landscapes and luxurious places where to spend your evenings, remember to save some time for  shopping in Costa Smeralda… You will not regret!

The main towns of the Costa Smeralda are Porto Cervo, Cala di Volpe, Romazzino and Piccolo Romazzino.  Cala di Volpe, also famous for the luxury hotel of the same name designed by Jacques Couelle, stands out above all for the beauty of its natural elements and for the intoxicating Mediterranean essences. Romazzino, known all over the world for its elegance and prestige, is famous for both the extraordinary naturalistic elements and for the presence of some of the most renowned and prestigious accommodations on the Costa Smeralda. In this area there is also the famous Principe beach. Instead, the nickname ” Piccolo Romazzino”, indicates a small but exclusive residential area that embraces one of the most beautiful bays of the Costa Smeralda. There are only twenty villas and there is only one access to the area, a factor that contributes to maintaining the climate of serenity that has always characterized the area.

But of course, Porto Cervo has always been the beating heart of the place, an illustrious stage of the international jet sets and prestigious showcase of the major luxury brands. It is the vital center of the entire Costa Smeralda, which has become its most representative place. In fact, in recent years, thanks to the extraordinary natural, social and architectural context, Porto Cervo has become one of the main destinations of luxury tourism (we talked about it here) and exclusive reference points for shopping in Costa Smeralda. The village develops around a paradisiacal natural gulf, which welcomes prestigious commercial districts (such as the Promenade du Port, the Borgo, the Piazza del Principe), exclusive hospitality centers and sports clubs of global importance.

If you want to experience some Sardinia shopping, the Borgo of Porto Cervo, for example, is one of the most coveted places both by major brands and by the most demanding customers, who find in this area their exclusive meeting point. Many boutiques of major international brands and the best Made in Italy make Porto Cervo a fundamental stop for lovers of high fashion items and accessories. Near the old port, however, stands the Promenade du Port , a district for shopping and culture that, combining art with craft boutiques and concept stores , aims to offer its customers a unique shopping experience. The Piazza del Principe and the Marina of Porto Cervo represent two other important commercial centers, sparkling constellations of boutiques and high-class venues.

The Promenade of Porto Cervo is the real paradise for shopping in Costa Smeralda, fought for amongst the most famous international brands: Missoni, Roberto Cavalli, Ermenegildo Zegna, Dolce & GabbanaTod’s, Bulgari… Brands are in fact always wishing to own a window on the boulevard, regularly treaded from crowned heads, captains of industry and sheiks with credit cards with unlimited availability. The Promenade has an outlet on the sea in the Red Square and its subterranean appendage in the Sottopiazza, other places with a high concentration of boutiques and atelieres.

Unmissable and colorful is  MC2 Saint Barth, for the men’s, women’s and children’s costumes, located in the subway. A real must for young people when Shopping in Costa Smeralda.

Then we have Esmeralda, one of the historic boutiques of Porto CervoAn eclectic store where you can find luxury items and accessories, but also natural linen kaftans embellished with embroidery. The location is very special: large mirrors, design armchairs and details such as logs and stones.

Finally, for fans of typical views, we recommend a visit to the market of San Pantaleo, which is held every Thursday: stalls of small souvenirs and local crafts in an authentic and fascinating scenery! Here you will find everything from organic fruit and vegetables to stalls of local handicrafts, from “once upon a time” terracotta objects to used clothes, from typical food and wine products to artistic objects and then even costume jewelry, flowers, artistic candles and much more… But do not stop at the stalls, take a look at the shops too, boutiques and shops all around the square and in the side streets, which for the occasion display their goods on the street, on the sides of the entrance. For some vacationers it is an unmissable appointment.

So use all of our tips and go and enjoy your shopping in Costa Smeralda!
