«This week Snap Italy takes you shopping in Ischia. Between a dip in the sea and a little ‘relaxation at the spa, the island will win you over with its fantastic boutiques»

It is among the ten most beautiful islands in the world, according to the famous travel magazine Travel + Leisure, and every year it attracts tourists and travelers from all over the world. We are talking about the wonderful  Ischia (institutional site). For our fifth appointment with Shopping Maps (click here to review the last episode), in fact, we at  Snap Italy take  you to shopping in Ischia, to discover together its secrets and its beauties.

During your holiday you will surely want to go shopping to buy some souvenirs, typical products of the island, a gift for your friends and relatives, or a piece of clothing that will remind you of your stay on the island. Ischia will not disappoint you, giving you a fantastic shopping experience which includes luxury brands, craft boutiques and souvenir shops.

Let’s find out together the best places to go shopping in Ischia…!

The Vittoria Colonna Course in Ischia Porto is definitely ideal for your shopping or even just for a walk in the evening. There are so many shops and high fashion boutiques. Going down the course, you get to via Roma, the central street a few steps from the port. Even here, there are many clothing stores, but also small craft shops, typical products, restaurants and bars. Among the big names we remember  RED Valentino, Yamamay, United Colors of Benetton and Camomilla.

Here in Ischia Porto and Forio we also recommend the Antica Sartoria by Giacomo Cinque, a fashion brand that has brought POsitano’s hippie-chic style  to many Italian cities. In Corso Vittoria Colonna and Via Roma, instead, you will find the La Caprese Più boutique, which for over 50 years has been a reference on the Island of Ischia in the distribution of high fashion/luxury fashion and accessories. From the historical sales point dedicated to the production of tailored clothes in the romantic village of S. Angelo, the family business conducted by the spouses Federico has been able to expand interpreting the needs of an increasingly cosmopolitan clientele, who began to fall in love with the Green Island. The enterprising Ernesto Federico took up the challenge of prêt-à-porter, becoming the first clothing merchant in Ischia and directing his offer towards the most innovative Made in Italy and luxury brands.

Let’s move now towards Lacco Ameno. Corso Angelo Rizzoli is the main street of the town and it is dedicated to the famous publisher, who in the second half of the last century was the great architect of the tourist development of the town and island. The street is very elegant, and it is the backdrop to the many Mushroom shops, places symbol of the municipal reality. You can find shops of all kinds, from clothing to typical local products and every type of souvernir.

Halfway between clothing and typical Ischian products, we find the handmade sandals by  Mario d’Ischia, a commercial activity that every year finds the enthusiasm to innovate continuously with original and trendy proposals. In its two sales points, largely dedicated to women’s clothing and beachwear, natural fabrics and raw linen dominate. A fascinating gem from the past is undoubtedly the on demand production of Ischian hand-crafted sandals, garnished with coral and turquoise paste, and customizable according to the client’s specific requests.

If you are on holiday in one of the many hotels in Sant’Angelo, you will certainly visit this beautiful village. In any case, we suggest you spend a few hours in Sant’Angelo, one of the most beautiful and evocative places on the island. There are many shops in the alleys of the village and their variety is astonishing: you go from high fashion boutiques to craft shops where you can buy memorabilia, small ceramic items and souvenirs.

Finally, after a visit to the Aragonese Castle (which we strongly suggest), a must for shopping enthusiasts in Ischia is the delightful village of Ischia Ponte, a real cheery on top for an exclusive and elegant shopping in Ischia session. Via Mazzella, in effect, is nothing more than the extension of the Aragonese Bridge, on land. A real outdoor gallery where you can relax by walking around. Jewelers, gift shops and boutiques of taste and gastronomic tradition: these are the peculiarities of the typical commercial activities of the village.

Among the many island delicacies, we highly recommend to taste the typical bitter of the island, the  Rucolino. It is a rocket-flavoured bitter that can be served both iced and at room temperature. You can buy a bottle in one of the many shops on the island, to bring with you a very good memory of your stay in Ischia.

Follow our indications and shopping in Ischia will never be better!
