«Whatever happens, it will be a success!». After the interview with Christian Scheller (FB page), class manager of GC32 Racing Tour, I didn’t think or say anything else. After a few days, I’m still struggling to figure out the reason. I keep thinking about it over and over again but I can’t change my mind. Reason? Make yourself comfortable because the list, despite everything, is very long.

As a matter of fact, the success of this first edition of Villasimius Cup was very likely to be at stake, especially because of the wind, which was the negative protagonist of the opening day (28th june). But the Racing Tour (we talked about it here) and Christian Scherrer had and still have a lot by their side, above all the strength of ideas and the certainty that, after all, a good job is always rewarded.

Innovation, a breathtaking sea and flying catamarans. These are the main ingredients of an awesome four-days event, constantly thrilling and surprising. This is why they couldn’t avoid starting with Team Argo, that, with skipper Jason Carroll in charge, showed great continuity in almost every regatta, so as to win the first edition of Villasimius Cup. Behind the Americans, we find RealTeam’s Swiss, runners-up and leaders of world’s championship. Finally, at the third place, we find the Japanese team of Mamma Aiuto!, who, thanks to a name like this, shortly won plenty of endorsements.

Just once, however, we’d like to overshadow the outcomes and focus on the people who made this event possible thanks to their tireless work. We’d like to emphasize people like Christian Scherrer, who, with his comforting smile, keeps everything under control, firmly convinced that he’s doing a good job. For this very reason, I’m more and more persuaded that «Whatever happens, it will be a success!».

Because Villasimius, and specifically the protected area of Capo Carbonara, represents a marvellous, jaw-dropping location. In this regard, we must thank major Gianluca Dessì and Fabrizio Atzori, director of the Protected Marine Area.
Because a professional like Jordi de Las Moras, Valtur’s marketing officer, aimed at this event, underlining since the press conference its potentiality and its possible developments.  No wonder the enormous resort Valtur Tanka Village provided its facilities during the whole event, trying to work out every logistical issue.
Because Carla Anselmi, head of the GC32 Racing Tour press office, and Giacomo Baldassarri work 24/7, cooperating with Christian Scherrer about every single press note released by the kermesse.

Because among the people who control the situation there’s also Mirco Babini, well known for his cooperation with Luna Rossa during the America’s Cup and skilled seaman, able to perceive the mood of wind and water far in advance.
Because the patroness was Virginia Saba, proud Sardinian and esteemed journalist, who had words and compliments for everyone.
But, above all, because Christian Scherrer was in charge. He is a man of his word and an indefatigable worker who, one stage after the other, plans also the future, reopening the hunt for the Italian team that is still missing and that could represent the cherry on top of a rather accomplished cake.
